Buddha Bowls

Buddha Bowls

Buddha Bowls may seem relatively new, but truly they’ve been around for quite some time. Typically, they are a vegetarian meal consisting of a balanced blend of whole grains, proteins, and vegetables. These bowls may provide the perfect delicious and nutritious vegan or vegetarian meal.

The first ingredient in a balanced Buddha Bowl is a grain of some sort. This can be rice, quinoa, farro, barley, or any other grain of your choice. You have complete control! You could even substitute rice noodles, pasta, or anything your heart desires. Or if you’re sensitive to grains, you can leave it out. Carbohydrates are important, but be certain to give your body the nutrients it needs.

Next comes the fun part! Here is where you can literally let your colors shine and customize your meal to your preferences. Top your grains with whatever veggies you like. These can be cooked or raw, with as many or as few as you’d like. Arrange them in your bowl to show all the colors of the beautiful, natural food you choose.

You can use any veggies you like, but here are a few suggestions: roasted broccoli, raw cauliflower, edamame, sweet potato, or even some avocado. Any vegetable you can think of can have a place in a Buddha bowl. Whether it’s raw, roasted, steamed, or blanched, colorful veggies are what makes a Buddha bowl. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite!

For a boost of protein, you could toss in a scoop of Foods Alive all natural protein powder! Try Chia, Hemp, Pea, or a combination of the them all! Click here to view them all and pick which one is best for you!

Finally, an optional step is a sauce. You don’t need a sauce because all those veggies are going to have a lot of flavors all on their own, but some like a sauce to add an extra kick. You can experiment with making your own sauces with spices, oils, and garnishes. You could try mixing garlic with some Sesame Oil and lime!

If you don’t want to make your own, you can always just sprinkle some of Foods Alive’s delicious salad dressings on top. They’re not just for salad! Try the Garlic Paprika for a smoky punch, or the Sweet Mustard for a hint of sassy-sweet flavor. You can’t go wrong!
